You know, I can not remember the last time I rocked double denim. Ok… I take that back. I can remember. It was sometime in the early 90’s, it was for my brother and I’s last “portrait” together and it was light wash denim! That photo is still on my parent’s fridge… so maybe somehow, psychologically, I had blocked denim on denim out of my closet “vocabulary”!!
Flash forward to now and there is no question that it has become hugely popular again! And this time, it just looks plain cool! It’s become a staple street wear item for fashionistas, celebrities are rockin’ it left and right and it’s been all over the fashion runways!
The thing is… while I have been loving the “Canadian Tuxedo” on others, I just haven’t been sure about how I would like it for myself.
Turns out… I kinda like it! I love this boatneck top from J. Crew and it only felt right to style it as a denim on denim look. I think the trick for working denim on denim is to mix the washes as much as possible, add in pops of color and glam it up with heel!
What I’m Wearing: J. Crew Factory Chambray Boatneck Top (here), Zara Skinny Jeans (similar here), Steve Madden Heels (here), Rebecca Minkoff Datenight Clutch, Loft Scarf (last season) and Kate Spade Sunnies (old).
