The Topshop Pink Blazer

Topshop Pink Blazer

First of all, there is still one more day in the $25 Versona Gift Card Giveaway!!!  It will end on Tuesday at midnight EST.  So, if you have not already entered, make sure you enter now (click here please)!

Topshop Pink BlazerNow, on to today’s look!  You all know how much I love a blazer!  I honestly think that may be why I love the fall and the spring so much.  It is the perfect time to pull out those blazers and begin the transition to the next season!  I actually picked up this blazer near the end of spring last year.  It, of course, has been way to hot to try to rock it this summer but now that there is a little cooler weather around, I decided to pull it out.

Topshop Pink Blazer

I actually love the muted tone of this shade of pink.  It’s a great neutral and works quite well for fall and spring simply because the shade is so subtle.  I decided to pair the blazer with other neutral tones by adding the heels and the bag.  Finally, I love the versatility of the blazer.  It can easily work for a chic weekend look (jeans and a tee) but also works extremely well for work or even a night out.

Versona Accessories Store Opening and $25 Gift Card Giveaway

Versona Accessories

If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, then you know that I am a huge fan of Versona Accessories!  They are by far my favorite accessory store.  I got turned on to them a few years back when their first store opened in the Charlotte area.  I immediately fell in love.  It was truly accessory heaven!!  I had never been in a store that had so many great statement pieces for such amazing prices!!!   Whatever I was looking for, it was there!  Since then, Versona has become my go to for all things accessory.  Not to mention it is the perfect spot for gift shopping as well!

Versona Accessories

So, imagine my extreme delight when I discovered that another Versona Accessories was going to be opening in Charlotte!  And no more than 6 or 7 minutes away from my house at the Shops at Rivergate South!  Woo-hoo!!  I am telling you, it was like early Christmas lovelies!  But… it get’s even better!!  I also received a special VIP invitation to attend the grand opening and received 2 $25 gift cards!  (One for me and one…. oh yes… wait for it… one for one of you!!)

Versona Accessories It’s not a surprise that I absolutely loved the store!  First of all, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.  The store itself was very well designed too.  Great spacing and very roomy.  Of course I was even more impressed with the inventory.  As expected, they had a fabulous selection of jewelry pieces and already had many items on sale and clearance too (added bonus points for that – Thank you!!).

The one thing that I love about Versona is the organization of the store.  Everything is grouped by color and style.  Golds together.  Pearls together.  Pinks together.  It’s perfect!!!  So of course, I had no issue finding pieces that I loved!  It’s jewelry and so much more… sunglasses, reading glasses, organizers.  If it is an accessory… it is there!  I love it!!  (And you will too!)

Versona Accessories

What stood out to me most though was the selection of clothing!  I was surprised to see such a robust and fabulous selection of pieces!

If you are in the Charlotte area, be sure to go check out the store.  It’s located at 13540 Hoover Creek Boulevard (next to Pier 1 in the Shops at RiverGate South).  If you are not, be sure to find a location near you.

But most importantly, be sure to enter the below giveaway for a $25 Gift Card to Versona Accessories.  You’d be amazed how many fabulous items you can get for $25!!!

OOTD: Fall Transitions

J. Crew Factory Navy Dress

I decided to title today’s post “transitions” because it just seemed so appropriate.  Fall is nearly upon us and as a result, our fashion choices and selections are beginning to change.   But more importantly, I am definitely in a phase of transition myself.  I’m sure you all have noticed that it’s been quite awhile since I last posted.  My absence was not at all intentional, it was literally a result of multiple transitions that have been occurring over the past few weeks.

J. Crew Factory Navy Dress

Most obviously, I have transitioned to natural hair!  I’ve been wearing extensions for the past year and 1/2 to allow my natural hair to grow out.  I took them out about 3 weeks ago.  I’m still learning and figuring out my hair (and products – geesh) but so far…  I love it!

J. Crew Factory Navy Dress

When I made the decision to go natural, I was never sure if it would be a “permanent” decision, so I wasn’t brave enough to do “the big chop”.  I just kinda stopped relaxing my hair.  Initially, I did it to give my hair a break and to allow it to get healthier, but after a certain point, I realized that I was getting excited about this “going natural” thing!

J. Crew Factory Navy Dress My look at this moment is a little different than the photos for today’s post…  I took these right after I took out the extensions.  Over the past few weeks though, I’ve been figuring out what works (and what doesn’t).  My next set of photos will feature my current look – which I really like.

J. Crew Factory Navy Dress

The other big transition for me is happening at work right now.  I’ve moved into a new role where I will be responsible for defining our digital strategy for the next 3-5 years!  I am super excited about it.  It’s a great opportunity and I am loving every bit of it.  It will require much more travel though as my entire team is located in Pa and I’ll be supporting client site visits too.  I’ve been away 3 out of the last 4 weeks already … hence my primary reason for being absent from the blog.  Things are beginning to settle in now though so hopefully with a little better planning on my part, there will not be any major disruptions to my posting schedule going forward.

J. Crew Factory Navy Dress

Now, for today’s look…  I picked up this dress from J. Crew Factory a few weeks ago.   With the change in seasons, I wanted some fresh fall items in my wardrobe.  We recently had a Premium Outlet Mall open up in Charlotte (less than 5 minutes from my house in fact) so I decided to check out the mall with the goal of adding a few gems to my fall wardrobe.  J. Crew did not disappoint, as I grabbed up this dress and a few others.  I love the color mix more than anything!

What I’m Wearing: J. Crew Factory Dress (here), Steve Madden heels (similar), Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy.

OOTD: Camo Cargo Pants

How to Wear Camo Pants You know I’m not really sure if camo is still considered a “hot trend” anymore but I know that it’s definitely still hot to me.  Camo has always been one of my all time favorites.  I think I love it because (similar to leopard) it’s just such a great neutral.  And with its resurgence over the past couple of years, there are now so many shades and color options available, it seems even more modern and fresh.

How to Wear CamoSo, of course, when I saw these cargo pants in this lighter shade of camo, I had to have them!!!   The color is such a fun and feminine twist on traditional camo.

How to Style Camo Pants

Now, even though this shade is a little bit lighter than usual, it can still be styled very similarly.  Camo always looks great with pops of color.  For this look, I decided to go with a pastel but I can easily see myself wearing these pants with a bold bright or a black and white graphic tee.

What I’m Wearing: Zara Top (similar), Camo Pants by Victoria’s Secret (here), Jessica Simpson Sandals (similar) and Louis Vuitton purse

What trend are you still rocking even though it may not still be “hot”?

Heartfelt Fashion Show w/ A+ Styles

A+ Styles

I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with one of my closest friends on a new venture of hers.  She recently started her own fashion consultant business, A+ Styles, and even more exciting, she had her first official “gig” as a consultant for a local fashion show!!! Yay!!! I was beyond proud of her for taking such a huge step towards following her passion!  And even more proud to see her in her element as a stylist for the show! (She’s always had such amazing style).

The show itself was actually the closing ceremony for a fashion focused summer camp for the kids of A Better World (founded by Kenneth Gilliard and Directed by Melissa Walters), a non-profit organization that focuses on making at risk kids lives better.

Heartfelt Fashion

A Better World

The directors of Heartfelt Fashion (Desirae Walker, Mary Spradley and Granger Hicks) sponsored the summer camp and mentored the kids specifically to help them enhance their self esteem and confidence through fashion.

The show featured fashion from local designers, including KuiRa Carr, Valerie Lee and Lashonda Milner-Murphy and performances by local artists.  Alisha had an opportunity to style the accessories for the kids in the show.

It was an amazing time for an even better cause.  It was apparent that the kids felt great about what they were doing.  And it was so fun seeing my girl Alisha doing her thing as well.  The kids looked so hip and chic!  She did a fantastic job.  You’ll definitely be seeing more collaborations from the 2 of us.  Please be sure to check out her site and services when you have a moment!

I was extremely excited when I was contacted a few weeks ago by 9th&Elm to collaborate on an outfit post.  I have to be honest though….  I had not heard of the site before but… once I took a moment to check them out and realize the concept…  I knew that I would have no problem finding pieces that I would love!

9th & Elm, SugarLips9th&Elm is a flash sale site that hosts the best handmade, independent and just otherwise cool designers!  The site was founded in 2013, with the idea of delivering its members (and membership is free btw) fabulous handmade fashion picks directly to their inboxes.  There is an awesome selection of designers and items… from clothes, jewelry, handbags to much, much more.  And shipping is free – every day!!!

9th & Elm, SugarLips

There were so many fabulous pieces to choose from that I had a hard time picking just one thing…. but I ultimately decided on this cute little sundress by SugarLips…. such a fun print!  I was really impressed with the quality and the fit more than anything else.  I particularly loved that the straps were adjustable too (I hate droopy straps).  Add in the fact that the dress was fully lined and I was in sundress heaven!

Is it Denim or Chambray?

How to Wear Chambray

While denim is certainly a staple of my wardrobe…  I actually don’t have an opportunity to wear traditional denim to work very often.  Our dress is business casual, so traditional denim is a big no-no in the office.  Over time though, I have found some creative ways to work “denim like” looks into my professional wardrobe…. mostly by wearing chambray pieces instead.

How to Wear Chambray

Quick fact….  While chambray looks like denim (and in my opinion is equally as functional) it actually isn’t denim!  Chambray is a plain weave fabric that is comprised by a colored thread (usually indigo but can be any color) and complemented by a bleached horizontal thread. It is usually more light weight than denim, making it perfect for summer temps!

How to Wear ChambrayThis particular chambray blazer has become my version of the “professional” denim jacket!!  I literally throw it on with everything!!  It immediately gives my summer casual looks (like those cute little sundresses) a little more edge and professionalism at the same time – allowing me to leverage more of my closet for work!  The blazer itself is actually quite old.  I bought it from Loft several seasons ago.  I had a seamstress shorten the sleeves and that was it… been rocking it hard ever since!  The classic color and silhouette make it extremely versatile.

Color Crush: Mint Green

Zara JACQUARD TROUSERS

I have to be honest… I’ve had my eye on these pants for a LONG time. I’ve been crushing on a couple of colors this season… oranges, corals, greens and yellows. (Side note… I’ve yet to conquer all of them.  I’m still looking for a fab pair of yellow trousers…. so the mission continues!!).

Zara JACQUARD TROUSERS

Anyway, enter these mint green gems from Zara… Perfection. I have literally been stalking the Zara website for these trousers forever. At one point, I even had them in my checkout bag, just hanging out there, for days.  Turns out they hung out just long enough… to go on sale!!!! Yoo-hoo!!!

ZARA JACQUARD TROUSERS

So…. you know how the story goes. I had to get them. Couldn’t live without them. Yadda yadda yadda!!

Zara ACQUARD TROUSERS

I love the color. It’s a very soft, subtle and feminine shade of mint green.  And the texture is simply amazing. The texture itself adds another dimension to the entire look. I decided to add some additional feminine details and texture on top to give it equal balance.

Zara Lace Applique Top

Zara Short Sleeve Sweatshirt

I hope you all enjoyed the 4th of July holiday!!  It’s been a great long weekend!  Food, fun and fireworks!  Superb!  And the weather has been amazing here too… albeit a little warm… but I’m not complaining… I’ve actually been enjoying soaking up all of the sun lately!

Zara Short Sleeve Sweatshirt

Anyway, while I was in Puerto Rico, I had a chance to visit the Plaza Las Americas Mall.  It is the largest mall in the Caribbean and the 2nd largest in Latin America.  Quite honestly, it rivals many here in the states!  It was HUGE.  We visited there on 2 separate days and we still were not able to cover it all!  There were the usual brands of course, but lots of other brands and stores that aren’t located in the states.

Zara Short Sleeve Sweatshirt

Out of all, of course my favorite was Zara!!  (You guys know I am a Zara-aholic!)  And with no physical locations close to me, I can never pass up an opportunity to get into a store!  It also just so happened that they were in the middle of their amazing summer sale… so needless to say I did some pretty major damage!

Zara Short Sleeve Sweatshirt

This short sleeved graphic sweatshirt was one of my picks…  and one of my favorites too!  It’s great for a summer day out…  casual yet chic.  I decided to accessorize it with bold colors…  pops of orange and coral… the perfect hue for this summer.

Red, White and Blue

Red, White and Blue

Well,  I’m back lovelies!!  I’m sorry for being away for so long too.  It was somewhat unplanned.  I just got back from 2 weeks in Puerto Rico and while I did plan to take a small break from the blog while away, it ended up being much longer than I expected. The 2 weeks leading up to my time off was simply….  hmmm… how do I put this?…  BANANAS at work!!!!

I have not worked that hard in years!!!  I’m talking late nights and weekends!  Ugh!  I honestly did not have the mental capacity nor the energy to do anything else.  In fact I was so worn out that I completely unplugged while I was away… no Instagram, no Twitter, I didn’t even take a lot of photos.  I just wanted to relax, re-energize and enjoy the moments.  So… my apologies again for the lack of posting and for not keeping up with your blogs too over the past few weeks…  Hopefully you all understand!

How to Style Red, White and BlueAnyway, the good news is that I did have an amazing time in Puerto Rico!  And now I am well rested and back in full swing!!

Now… today’s look is actually from a few weekends ago.  I love tuxedo striped pants and picked up these navy ones from Ann Taylor.  I decided to keep it relatively simple, leveraging basic colors with a few statement pieces (enter shoes)!
